SCloud, VS Google Drive VS. ICloud

Samsung, the Korean electronics giant, will be launching S-CLoud (sCloud), the competitor of Apple's iCloud. S-Cloud will offer, 5 gigabytes and will allow unlimited storage of all media purchased through the S-Cloud, its online store. Samsung has partnered with Microsoft to support its global S-Cloud service. Apple provides free storage capacity of 5GB with its iCloud, its been said that the S-Cloud would give "more than 5GB," storage space. But it is not clear if users will have to pay for extended storage. Apple offers several tiers of storage, priced by the year. You can upgrade to 15GB for $20/year, 25GB for $40/year or 55GB for $100/year. Samsung's price list is not revealed yet.  Apple's iCloud lacks the ability to upload files directly since it can only store files from apps that support it, S-Cloud will give users full access to upload files directly. The S-Cloud will make the service better by offering iCloud's data syncing along with a Dropbox-like cloud storage feature and offering a way users can access the files at any given time. Apple's service nearly allows instant synchronization of data between devices in the company's ecosystem. iCloud features automatic downloading of pictures taken on an iPhone onto an iPad on the internet, purchases made on one device will be sent to other user owned devices without human intervention and the automatic syncing of documents, calendar, notes, mail and tasks between devices. Samsung's new service, will not have the restrictions and limits found on Apple's iCloud service, allowing Samsung users to store any content they wish in the cloud. A similar service will be provided by Google Drive. Google Drive is an impressive product. The cloud storage and collaboration space is more competitive than ever before. Google faces competition from cloud companies like Box and Dropbox, Apple, Microsoft and Amazon.Google is pricing Google Drive at a VERY aggressive level. For $30 a year ($2.50 a month), users get 25GB to use for Google Drive and Picasa, plus 25GB of Gmail storage. A similar service will be provided by Google Drive. That's more than what Amazon and Microsoft charge for an additional 20GB, but less than the price of Dropbox, Apple and Box. Google Drive supports 30 different file types and a number of mobile and desktop platformsOn the Macs, you are able to download and sync all Google Docs files to a local "Google Drive" folder. Making a file on your desktop available to your smartphone is easy, just drag and drop it into the Google Drive file and it syncs across the Net where it can be accessed on the smartphone. Dropbox handles this same feature very well.

'Forget sports drinks: Coconut water is the perfect fluid to replenish your body's electrolyte balance after heavy exercise'

What I think about this article is that it is very helpful. I learned some new things about coconut water that I would have never knew. The best way to restore your body's fluids and electrolytes after exercise is simply with water and food, particularly fruit. In cases of severe exertion or illness, however, a quick electrolyte boost may be necessary. For those reluctant to consume sports drinks with all their added colors, flavors, sweeteners and preservatives, nature has provided the perfect rehydrating drink:coconut water. Coconut water is a much better substitute for drinks like Gatorade, Powerade, and other energy drinks. Coconut water is found inside the cavity of a young, unripe coconut (in contrast with coconut milk, found inside the mature fruit). The balance of electrolytes in coconut water is nearly the same as that in the human blood -- so close, in fact, that coconut water is the only natural non-blood substance that can be safely injected into the human bloodstream. I think it is amazing that coconut water has the same substance so closely to the human blood. Ancient people knew this, and sometimes used it as an emergency intravenous fluid. By just drinking it, you'll be rewarded with 15 times as much potassium as a typical sports drink, along with potent antioxidants. Coconut water makes you so much healthier and you know that there isn't any added sugars or anything in it. And unlike sugary sports drinks or coconut milk, coconut water is low in calories and fat free. What I find really helpful about coconut water is that it is a highly effective natural remedy for lowering blood pressure in patients with hypertension. The lowering of people's blood pressure are because of the coconut water's unique nutritional content. It is rich in potassium, magnesium and vitamin C. All of those nutrients are linked to health benefits, including lowering high blood pressure. They also make coconut water an excellent way to hydrate your body without depleting vital minerals. Many health-conscious athletes choose coconut water over commercial sports drinks to replenish water, minerals and glycogen lost during heavy exercise. The best coconut water is found in fresh young coconuts, which are green in color. This coconut water is fresh and raw, retaining its natural benefits in the purest form. Young coconuts can often be found in health food stores and international markets, but of course are most readily available in tropical regions. Commercial packaged coconut water is available, but these products are processed and pasteurized, and should be considered inferior to fresh coconut water. Coconut water can help you lower your blood pressure, replenish you after exercise and most importantly it's very healthy if you get the right ones.

'Shuttle Discovery makes Washington flypast'

I think that stopping America's 30-year orbiter programme is a bad thing. Stopping the programme would be stopping all the research in space. We wouldn't be able to see or know about the things happening in space. It limits our exploration in space, not having the programme. "The space shuttle changed the way we view the world and it changed the way we view the Universe," said commander Chris Ferguson on landing. The program costs to much to maintain that the retirement of Nasa's iconic shuttle fleet was ordered by the US government, in part due to the high cost of maintaining the ships. The effect of canceling the program is that billions of dollars were spent that allowed NASA to fly the space shuttle and now that the program is being retired. So many people have lost their jobs, homes, and many people have lost their lives. And now they don't have anywhere to work to get enough money since the economy is so bad. But the benefits of the program are that they discovered so many things in space, they have made space vehicles, and even made a tracking satellite system. The shuttle has carried more than three million pounds of cargo and more than 600 crewmembers into space. Hundreds of scientific experiments were conducted in orbit. Shuttle crews also serviced and repaired satellites as needed, particularly the Hubble Space Telescope. Between 1995 and 1998 shuttles docked nine times with the Russian space station Mir. Flights to construct the International Space Station (ISS) began in 1998. Shuttles carried major pieces of the ISS into space and traveled to the station seventeen times through the end of 2005.They discovered that Pluto isn't even a planet. Without the Space program we would have never knew all the things we know now in space. Although with all these accomplishments the shuttle has not met many of the original goals that NASA set for the program. The decision leaves the country with no means of putting astronauts in orbit. In the interim, Nasa will rely on the Russians to ferry its people to and from the International Space Station (ISS). I really think that one of the shuttles should be given to Houston since it is known worldwide as the  Space Center of the United States. Houston is the home of the Johnson Space Center, the headquarters for the space program. It is the main place that people think of when it comes to the Space Center. I think the only reason why they put one of the shuttles in New York and not in Houston is because theres always a lot of tourists there and the Space Shuttle would attract more and more people.

'Mechanically separated meat, a paste made by pulverizing animal carcasses, is used in hot dogs, burgers, lunch meat and Spam'

What I think about this article is that it's disgusting. They use every part of the animal to put in hot dogs, and other meats. Mechanically separated meat isn't even meat it's a paste-like meat product produced by forcing beef, pork, turkey or chicken, under high pressure through a sieve or similar device to separate the bone from the edible meat tissue. "Have you ever glanced at the ingredients on a hot dog or a can of Spam Lite and wondered about an ingredient called "mechanically separated chicken" or "mechanically separated meat"? This type of meat is collected from animal carcasses after all the prime cuts of muscle have been removed. Its even in lunch meats." So that they don't waste the meat scraps still clinging to the bone, slaughterhouses remove the meat either by scraping, pressing or shaving the scraps off the bone, or by simply blasting it with pressurized air or water. The meat comes off in a reddish slurry, which is then mixed into low-grade meat products such as hot dogs and lunchmeat in order to bulk them up. I think it's bad because the stuff that people eat a lot and it's meat scraps that they're eating. They could be eating all kinds of things that are a part of the animal. There are also ingredients added into the meat. People eat all kinds of things that are bad for them without even knowing it. Other products for mechanically separated meat include hamburger, ground beef, canned meat and processed meat products such as Slim Jims. Mechanically separated meat is also known as mechanically recovered meat, mechanically reclaimed meat and mechanically deboned meat. I find hot dogs and these other meats disgusting knowing what they're made with now. It doesn't take much sodium nitrite, for example, to greatly increase a person's risk of pancreatic cancer or colon cancer. And guess where you find that chemical? Hot dogs, bacon, sausage, pepperoni, ham, lunchmeat and even beef jerky. It's also in all the quick lunch trays for children, by the way. But never in the fresh meat. Fresh meat is better to eat because you know what you're eating and there isn't any chemicals or anything added in. People who eat fresh meat don't poison their bodies with sodium nitrite. Nor MSG (bacon, sausage, beef jerky) nor all the other chemical additives typically added to meat products. That's something to remember if you shop for meat of any kind. And don't forget that unless it's organic meat, it's almost certainly contaminated with GMOs, because cows, pigs and chickens are all fed genetically modified corn and soy as part of their diets. If you're eating that stuff, you're committing slow suicide. And maybe not even that slow, come to think of it. Eating all that bad processed meat with all the chemicals that the factories add in, is slowly killing you. I find this article very helpful and also disgusting.

'Turning students into good digital citizens'

What i think about this article is that it's a good idea that Joseph Kahne, Davidson professor of education at Mills College in Oakland, CA, and chairman of the MacArthur Network on Youth and Participatory Politics want to keep young people safe and civil. They talk to them to give them information and new perspectives. They want students to become Good Digital Citizens.Good digital citizens don't engage in cyberbullying, they might tell you. They don't give out too much personal information, and they don't post crazy videos on YouTube that will come back to haunt them in future job interviews. The only problem that they have is that, technology is developing even faster now and they can't set up a standard amount of skills. I still think it's a good idea, teachers can help their students by creating assignments that require them to build up their 21st century skills. Educators could let students use technology more often if all of them were turned into Good Digital Citizens, they could research things online, get information about political or social issues, find different points of views about those issues on the internet, and even create things and post it on the web. And educators can limit their students to what websites they can go to. Using technology in class would make students learn more and if they are good digital citizens then the teachers don't have to worry about their kids bullying others or doing crazy  things. The internet, on the other hand, transcends physical borders. Consequently, digital citizens engage both locally and with groups not connected with their geographic reality. A true digital citizen is simultaneously engaged with  both, Livingston says. But not everybody believes the path to digital citizenship is simply a list of skills that can be checked off once mastered. Helen L. Chen, a research scientist at Stanford University's Center for Innovations in Learning, agrees that K-12 schools need to give students technical skills that will serve them after they have left the classroom. Letting students use technology in class would help them to learn more and also learn things they can use later on in the future. Understanding that what a person sees on a screen is a construct created by somebody--perhaps even oneself--is part of "building a scaffold toward digital citizenship," Wesch says, and the next step beyond critical thinking, information literacy, and creative thinking. "Our lives are so entwined with the digital--so incredibly enmeshed in the digital," he concludes, "that, if you're going to be a  good citizen, period, you have to be a good digital citizen." people have so much technology they can use now and it would be very helpful to use them in the classroom, when the information you need to find isn't in the book or in your notes and when the teacher won't help you.
